140 wanted persons fall in Caraga


BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested 140 wanted persons in the Caraga region from September 1 to 17.

Police Regional Office 13-Regional Public Information Office  chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said four  Most Wanted Persons on the regional level were among the arrested.

The PRO 13-Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division said among those arrested were Bon and Jem, the fifth and seventh regional MWPs, wanted for rape and murder, respectively.

“Close coordination of our field units and community contributed in the successful operation and arrest of these MWPs,” Ometer said.

Also arrested were 10 provincial-level MWPs, eight city and municipal-level MWPs, and 118 other wanted individuals.

Among the provincial MWPs apprehended was alias "Joe," 44, the No. 1 MWP in Surigao del Sur, for estafa, violation of Republic Act No. 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and less serious physical injuries.

“The arrested individuals were immediately processed and underwent the booking procedure,”  Ometer said.

PRO-13 chief Police Brig. Gen. Alan Nazarro credited the collaboration between the  police and community for the arrest of the suspects.

"The success of these intelligence-driven manhunt operations underscores the importance of collaboration and cooperation between local police and the community,” he said.

“Rest assured that we will continue to take decisive law enforcement operation against those with warrants of arrest," Nazarro added.
