Mattress maker partners with Meralco's Movem for EV-based logistics

In an effort to boost logistics sustainability, Movem Electric, Inc., an electric mobility solutions provider of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has collaborated with the foam and mattress firm Uratex Group of Companies.

In a statement, Movem said an electric light delivery truck was handed over to Uratex, and a 60-kilowatt (kW)DC fast charger was sent to its manufacturing plant in Plaridel, Bulacan.

This partnership would further push its goal to achieve zero emissions in its operations.
Peachy Medina, Uratex's managing director, said that the company has been gradually adopting electric options and has received support from Movem.

“These initiatives support Uratex’s plan to further step up its adoption and deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) with a convenient and accessible charging solution to its drivers and operations,” Medina said,

Raymond Ravelo, the president of Movem and Meralco’s first vice president and chief sustainability officer, commended the mattress firm for implementing green practices.

“Uratex has taken bolder steps in implementing sustainable practices with the adoption of EVs into its fleet in addition to transitioning to renewable energy sources, setting a powerful example on how to reduce carbon intensity in the industry,” he said.

“Our vision of driving the Philippines’ journey towards an emissions-free transportation sector is only made possible through working with like-minded partners [such as Uratex],” Ravelo added.

Furthermore, Meralco has backed Uratex’s goal to switch to clean energy sources under the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).

Roberto Galang, assistant vice president and head of Meralco, lauded the mattress company for choosing renewable energy (RE), specifically on sustainable transport systems.

“As your end-to-end energy plus solutions partner, the One Meralco Group goes beyond just delivering stable and reliable power. It is our honor and privilege to partner with Uratex/RGC Group of Companies through initiatives that help you achieve your sustainability goals,” Galang shared.
