“Hindi tayo titigil sa pagsigurong mayroon tayong mga programa laban sa matinding pagbabaha dito sa ating lungsod. Maliban sa pagsasaayos ng mga floodgate ay ating binuksan itong dalawang modern pumping stations sa ating lungsod na tiyak na makakatulong sa pagpigil ng pagpasok ng baha dito sa ating lungsod tuwing may bagyo o high tide (We will not stop in ensuring we have programs against severe flooding here in our city. Apart from the repair of the floodgates, we have opened two modern pumping stations in our city that will definitely help in preventing the flood from entering our city every time there is a typhoon or high tide),” Mayor Sandoval said.

The two facilities are the Sto. Rosario II Pumping Station in Barangay Baritan and the Dulong Adante Pumping Station in Barangay Tañong (near C4 Road Bridge).

According to the City Engineering Department, both the modern pumping stations have a capacity of  0.3 cubic meter per second (volume of water pumped during operating hours) and will operate every six hours, with one hour idle time which is more efficient than the mechanical pumps in the area (0.1 cubic meter capacity, three-hour operation, two-hour idle time).

It also said that P9,990,475 from the city government's budget was allotted for the Sto. Rosario II Pumping Station that will serve around 1,000 residents in the barangay.

The city government also allocated P16,627,238 to fund the construction of the Dulong Adante Pumping Station which will help lessen the flooding problem in Barangay Tañong during typhoon season and will benefit over 500 residents.

The modern facilities are the fourth and fifth new pumping stations inaugurated in the city.

There are 55 pumping stations in Malabon, including those built by the LGU, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
