Coast Guard suspends sea trips in northern Quezon due to ‘Gener’


LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Philippine Coast Guard suspended sea trips in northern Quezon on Monday, September 16, as weathermen raised tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 in the area due to tropical depression “Gener.”

The PCG said the order affecting General Nakar, Infanta, Real, and Polillo Group of Islands is in line with HPCG Memorandum Circular 02-23 entitled Revised Guidelines on the Movement of Vessel During Heavy Weather dated March 23, 2023.

However, voyages may be allowed in main supply routes and special areas under the conditions set forth by the NHQ-PCG MC 02-23 as verified by the PCG northern Quezon.

The PCG reminded all vessels to take precautionary measures and be extra vigilant in monitoring the movement of Gener if deemed to be affected by the weather disturbance. 

Voyages will resume upon improvement of weather and sea condition, the PCG said.

All vessels intending to take shelter shall be permitted as long as it is manifested through a written request and no passenger and cargoes will be allowed on board, it added.
