Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog is still awaiting an invitation from the Quad Committee of the House of Representatives to testify on the bloody war of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Hulaton niya ang invitation. Hindi ka man puwede ka attend sa quad com hearing kag mag-volunteer maging resource speaker (He will wait for the invitation. It’s not allowed that you attend the quad com hearing and you volunteer to become a resource speaker),” said Jeric Jucaban, Mabilog’s legal counsel.

“If there is a formal invitation, former Mayor Mabilog expressed his willingness to attend and speak,” Jucaban said in a phone interview on Thursday, September 12.

Mabilog arrived in the country at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Tuesday, September 10, after seven years of exile in the United States.

He was constantly threatened by Duterte in public speeches that he would be killed as a narco-politician.

Jucaban said that Mabilog was never scheduled to attend the September 12 quad com hearing.

“There were members of the quad com who expressed their desire for Mabilog to attend, but no invitation was sent,” Jucaban said.

On August 16, Iloilo City Rep. Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda told the quad com she might be able to convince Mabilog to come home from exile and clear his name and speak on the unfavorable tag of Iloilo City as the most “shabulized” city in the Philippines.

Baronda released a video in her official Facebook page showing her hugging Mabilog when he arrived in the country.
