Being compared to the infamous Janet Lim Napoles is never a compliment, and Ako-Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co did just that to Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a scathing manifestation before the House Committee on Appropriations on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 10, Co, the panel chairman, claimed that the Vice President "outdid" the so-called "pork barrel scam" queen.

Citing a Commission on Audit (COA) report for 2022, the Bicolano said that the P125-million confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) were spent in only 11 days.

The COA report also flagged or issued a notice of disallowance for a good chunk--some P73 million--of the same confidential funds.

“Tinalo pa ang Napoles fund na 60 days ginastos ang pera (This beats the Napoles fund that was spent in 60 days)," Co rather boldly said.

Napoles is the Filipina businesswoman who supposedly masterminded the P10-billion Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam. She was convicted of plunder for her involvement in the PDAF or pork scam, which was first exposed on 2013.

She is facing charges for alleged involvement in the misuse of funds intended for disaster response operations.

“Nagsabi ang COA na mali ang paggastos nito. Kulelat ang mga bata, sirang pagkain at nutribun para sa mag-aaral. Malala ang panunungkulan. Di pumapasok sa DepEd sa gitna ng kapalpakan,” Co further said of Vice President Duterte.

(COA issued a notice of disallowance. Pupils are lagging behind, and they were given spoiled food and nutribuns. Poor leadership. Not appearing at DepEd amid these failures.)

The lady official is no longer connected with DepEd; she tendered her resignation last June, but officially vacated her post only last July 19.
