DPWH: Infrastructure damage from 'Enteng', habagat swells to P139.56-M


The damage caused by typhoon “Enteng” and the southwest monsoon or habagat to public infrastructure reached a staggering P139.56 million, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Saturday, Sept. 7.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said the severe rains and winds have inflicted extensive damage on national roads, bridges, and flood control structures across five regions in Luzon and the Visayas.

The damage breakdown includes P84.39 million for roads, P12.42 million for bridges, and P42.75 million for flood control systems.

By region, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR ) experienced the most substantial damage at P49.43 million, followed by Region 5 with P34.85 million, Region 6 with P25.78 million, Region 8 with P23.65 million, and Region 2 with P9.85 million.

In a separate update, the DPWH Disaster and Incident Management Teams have successfully reopened 11 road sections previously affected by the typhoon.

However, access remains restricted on four roads in CAR and Central Luzon.

These include the Itogon-Dalupirip Road, the Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road in Barangay Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet, the Dantay-Sagada Road, and the Manila North Road in Marilao, Bulacan.
