Police Capt. Sherwin Galupar, head of Police Station 10, said the victim was passing by the area at around 7:30 a.m. when she was suddenly attacked by the aggressive carabao.

She sustained injuries in her forehead, left ears, buttocks, left leg, and stomach and lost consciousness.

The victim was taken to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here where she died at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4.

An hour after she was attacked, the carabao also assaulted a 26-year-old man who was gathering some leaves in the area. He sustained injuries in his buttocks, both legs, right arm, and lower lip.

Galupar said the male victim was taken to a hospital where he is being assessed for surgery.

He said the carabao was tied up in the area and also attacked some individuals early that day but were able to avoid the animal.

The owner and the caretaker decided to subdue the carabao and brought the animal to a slaughterhouse later that day.

Galupar said that it is unclear why the carabao was aggressive. The owner and the caretaker could not also control the animal, he added.

Police said the owner and the victims’ families have met and the owner signified to extend assistance to them.
