The father of the 17-year-old student who is a policeman is determined to file charges against the teacher from the  Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School.

Police Major Jiceree Basitao, chief of the Inayawan Police Station, said charges for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, will be filed on Thursday, September 5, against the teacher.

The other student, 14, is having second thoughts whether or not to pursue legal action against his teacher, Basitao said.

Accompanied by their parents, the two students and their teacher faced off before Basak Pardo Barangay Captain Dave Tumulak on Tuesday, September 3.

The parents brought their children to the barangay hall after learning about the incident. The teacher refused to talk to reporters after their meeting.

The 17-year-old student alleged that the teacher asked him to show his abs and threatened that would be asked to sit on air if he refused to follow his order.

The student went on to show his abs but the teacher still went on to bite his back.

The 14-year-old student accused the teacher of making sexual advances. The student said the teacher bit him in the arm after he refused to kiss him.

Basitao said there are witnesses and evidence that may pin down the teacher.

“There is a medical certificate, the president of the class and other students present during the incident are willing to testify,” said Basitao.

Tumulak has asked the barangay’s social welfare services office to conduct a stress debriefing on the students.

Noel Auxtero, the school’s Senior High School coordinator, said they received more complaints after the teacher’s actuations were publicized.

Auxtero said the school has submitted a report about the complaint to the division office for further investigation.

Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, regional director of the Department of Education-Central Visayas, said the teacher’s actions will not be tolerated.
