8 hurt as LPG tank explodes in Sta. Cruz, Manila


Eight residents, including two minors, were injured after a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank exploded in Barangay 310, Sta. Cruz, Manila on Wednesday, September 4.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the victims as Torma Jesus, Marivie Gandol, Verlie Mae Salim, Johnny Factor, and Marilyn Sabas who suffered second degree burns.

Meanwhile, Jamaica Evangelista and two minors aged 16 and 3 years-old sustained minor burns. 

Authorities said the fire started at 8:06 a.m. after an LPG tank placed on the ground floor of a residential structure exploded.

The fire was immediately extinguished at 8:15 a.m.

Arson investigators noted that the LPG was defective before it exploded.

All injured victims are now in stable condition.
