The first house of light: Celebrating Louis Poulsen’s 150-year shine

The exhibition's centerpiece, the PH Artichoke lamp, with its 72 meticulously arranged metal leaves, stood as a beacon of timeless design and craftsmanship.

Imagine walking into a room where the lighting feels just right—soft, warm, and welcoming. It’s not something you might notice immediately, but it’s what makes the space feel like home. Light has this quiet power, shaping our experiences, guiding our emotions, and turning the ordinary into something special. This is the story that Louis Poulsen, a Danish heritage lighting brand, has been telling for 150 years.

Loli Sy, executive vice president of Focus Global Inc., reflected on the essence of Louis Poulsen’s philosophy, sharing a meaningful quote from designer Poul Henningsen about the transformative power of lighting.

“I'd like to share something fascinating that he has said before,” said Sy. “I quote, ‘When one looks into first-floor homes from a passing tram in the evenings, one shudders to see how gloomy they are. Furniture, style, carpets—everything in a home is secondary to the importance of lighting. The correct illumination of a room does not require money but insight.’”

Sy added, “So this is what makes Louis Poulsen so special and a critical part of our mission. It not only provides beautifully designed lighting, but it comes in shapes and forms that are not just stunning to look at, but also provide the ideal kind of lighting to create the best experiences.”
