The office of Parañaque Representative Edwin Olivarez distributed financial assistance to 1,000 beneficiaries of Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) on Thursday, August 15.

Olivarez said 1,000 senior citizens from the city’s District 1 and 2 received P2,000 each at ceremony held at the Parañaque City Sports Complex.

He said the financial aid will help buy their maintenance medicine and other needs.

The program, a project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), is aimed to protect minimum wage earners from inflation.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said the AKAP is intended to provide a menu of assistance for goods and services that are affected by high inflation depending on the needs of the individuals.

Olivarez said the activity was attended by United Senior Citizens Partylist Representative Milagros Aquino-Magsaysay, Mayor Eric Olivarez and representatives from the DSWD to support the program.
