DOLE: 90.54% of Davao Region-inspected establishments meet labor standards

Around 90 percent of labor establishments in Davao Region are compliant with labor practice standards, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.

From January to June this year, DOLE assessed 222 establishments to determine if the work places are aligned with general labor standards (GLS).

Based on the DOLE data, the initial inspections revealed that 177 establishments were compliant.

After additional corrections and mandatory conferences, another 24 establishments achieved conformity.

The remaining 9.46 percent, according to DOLE, are currently working to meet the required standards.

DOLE Davao del Norte Provincial Head Erlinda G. Mamitag commended the high level of compliance as a result of collaborative efforts between DOLE and the business community.

“While 90.54% is within our target, we still strive to achieve more. We will continue to work towards ensuring that all establishments meet these essential requirements,” Mamitag said.

The provincial office added that ongoing inspections and compliance notices are part of the updated strategic inspection framework under DOLE Department Order No. 238, series of 2023.

The order aims to enhance enforcement and alignment with labor standards, occupational safety, and health regulations, thereby ensuring the protection and welfare of workers.
