50,000 housing units to rise in Clark

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) have signed an agreement to build around 50,000 housing units in Clark, which is envisioned to be the country's fastest-growing economic hub.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and CDC Chief Executive Officer Agnes Devanadera on Thursday, July 4, as part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s flagship “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino” (4PH) program.

Acuzar emphasized the potential of Clark as a host area for DHSUD's township projects nationwide.

"Through this MOU, we can maximize the potential of Clark in terms of pursuing township developments under 4PH, hence triggering economic activities there," Acuzar said.

"Clark is one of the areas where expansion of development outside the National Capital Region is very ideal. Apart from its proximity to Metro Manila, it already has modern infrastructures that are necessary in a sustainable township," he added.

In addition to its strategic advantages, developing Clark is expected to create economic opportunities that can attract businesses, workers, and residents from neighboring areas, including the National Capital Region (NCR), the DHSUD said.

Devanadera expressed gratitude to the DHSUD for supporting the CDC's housing initiatives, benefitting Clark's workforce and businesses.

The signing of the MOU followed Acuzar's recent visit to Clark with other DHSUD officials to assess potential sites for housing projects.

"We thank lawyer Devanadera and the CDC for this opportunity to serve our kababayans in Region 3 thru President Bongbong Marcos Jr.'s Pambansang Pabahay," Acuzar said.
