Since the news about Disney Cruise Line coming to Asia broke at the Destination 23 D23 event last year, fans have been eagerly waiting for more details about its maiden voyage in the region. Finally, we got it.
During a press conference last June, Disney Cruise Line gave everyone a glimpse of some of the attractions of Disney Adventure, its first ship with a home port in Asia. The ship, which set sail from Singapore in 2025, will feature three- and four-night voyages, where guests can immerse themselves in a nautical adventure the Disney way.
“We're bringing the magic of Disney Cruise Line to Asia for the first time ever, and we want to give our guests the cruise relaxation and Disney fun they can only experience aboard one of our ships," Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, said. “When they set sail on the Disney Adventure, guests will find incredible, immersive areas that bring the worlds of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel to life in ways like never before–and these uniquely Disney experiences will inspire families to reconnect, recharge, and make unforgettable memories that they'll cherish forever.”
Themed areas
The Disney Adventure will feature seven themed areas for its 6,700 passengers to explore. These spaces are inspired by beloved Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies. First is the Imagination Garden, featuring an “enchanted valley," garden, and an open-air space for performances. A nod to films like “The Little Mermaid” and “Finding Nemo” is the Discovery Reef, where people can dine, shop, and interact with their favorite under-the-sea characters.
San Fransokyo Street, an area inspired by “Big Hero 6,” is the ship’s street market-inspired entertainment hub where guests can play interactive games and explore movie theaters. They can also spend their time at the Wayfinder Bay, a Pacific Island-inspired poolside retreat imbued with the beauty of the “Moana” movie.
Fans of Disney royal characters will love Town Square with its shops and restaurants reminiscent of the scenes in “Tangled,” “Cinderella,” “Frozen,” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Designed for superhero fans is the Marvel Landing. Lastly, Toy Story Place is a playland with themed food venues and water play areas inspired by Pixar’s beloved franchise.
Asian touch
Disney Adventure promises to bring what guests love about its other Disney cruises, such as the split-bath concept in staterooms, characters on board, other leisure activities, Disney-inspired accommodations, and top-notch hospitality. But what will set Disney Adventure apart is its distinct touches of Asia.
“By infusing Disney’s signature service with handpicked experiences unique to Asia, guests can look forward to the magic at sea through personalized touches, a selection of global cuisines, and abundant retail offerings carrying a distinct local flavor,” said Sarah Fox, vice president and regional general manager for Asia at Disney Cruise Line.
Disney Adventure will sail from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre for at least five years as part of the collaboration between Disney Cruise Line and the Singapore Tourism Board. More details about its maiden voyage and other attractions will be revealed at a later date.
