NCR minimum wage earners to get P35-daily wage increase starting July 16

Starting July 16, the daily minimum wage for worker in Metro Manila will be P645 after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in the National Capital Region approved a P35 wage increase,  the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced on Monday, July 1.

In a statement, DOLE said the Board’s Wage Order No. NCR-25 was already affirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), which favored the arguments raised by various labor groups, especially on the aspect of the escalating prices of basic goods and commodities.

The same P35 increase in minimum wage applies for those working in the agriculture sector based on the NCR Board wage order.

The current minimum wage for those in the agriculture sector is P573, and with the wage order, it would increase to P608.

The same increase—P573 to P608—also covers service and retail establishments employing 15 or less workers and manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers.

Citing existing laws and procedures, DOLE said the wage order is to take effect 15 days after its publication—or on July 16 this year.

The last minimum wage increase in the region was implemented on July 16, 2023, at P610 for the non-agricultural sector and P573 for the agriculture sector.
