Shay Mitchell is currently hot topic on social media.
This, for seemingly neglecting to mention her Filipino roots in a recent episode of her show "Thirst."
There the actress maintained her father is Irish, while her mother is Spanish.
But it is common knowledge that her mom, Precious Garcia, is a Pinay from Pampanga.
Note that Lea Salonga even highlighted this in interviews prior, mentioning she is actually Shay's aunt given that her mom is a cousin.
Is Shay back to being, err, shy, about her lineage?
In an interview back in 2016, Shay admitted to hiding her Filipino roots due to insecurities about her tan skin.
This was due to the bullying she experienced as a teen with classmates mocking her appearance.
However, Shay maintained she has since gained enough confidence to embrace her true identity.
She declared, “Why am I trying to change myself? I should be proud of who I am and what my heritage is.”
Following her new pronouncement, many of her Pinoy fans believe it was all for show.
