ILOILO CITY – Extreme heat was felt as people marked Maundy Thursday in Western Visayas.

The State weather bureau said that the heat index was on the “dangerous” level with more than 40 degrees Celsius.
On Maundy Thursday, Roxas City in Capiz province recorded the highest forecast temperature at 44 degrees Celsius.
The regional capital of Iloilo City had a forecast temperature of 43 degrees Celsius.
The coastal town of Dumangas in Iloilo province had 42 degrees Celsius.
The town of Mamubaso in Capiz province registered 40 degrees Celsius while La Carlota City in Negros Occidental province was 40 degrees Celsius.
Extreme heat is expected to continue for the rest of the Holy Week.
The Department of Health (DOH)-6 has called on the people to take extra precaution.
The DOH-6 recommended staying indoors and drink water frequently to avoid heat stroke.
