Mayor Guo claims suspected Chinese mother is father’s mistress

Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Leal Guo has claimed that the Chinese national that senators allege is her biological mother is actually her father’s mistress.

Guo, in her five-paged personal letter addressed to the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality chairperson Sen. Risa Hontiveros, negated claims by some senators that her actual birth mother was a certain Lin Wen Yi.

Hontiveros and Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian earlier said they found documents showing that Lin traveled frequently with Angelito Guo, the mayor’s father, leading them to suspect that she is her actual biological mother and not Amelia Leal Guo, a Filipino helper.

“May mga nagsasabing si Lin Wen Yi ang tunay kong ina. Siya ay kasama sa mga kumpanya ng aming pamilya, ngunit si Amelia Leal ang aking ina sa lahat ng dokumento (Some are saying that Lin Wen Yi is my biological mother. She is part of the companies owned by our family, but Amelia Lean is my real mother in all documents),” Guo said in her letter to the Senate panel.

“Hindi totoo ang paratang na si Amelia Leal ay isang non-existing person. Si Lin Wen Yi ay kinakasama at isang business partner ng aking ama. Hindi siya ang aking ina (It’s not true that Amelia Leal is a non-existing person. Lin Wen Yi is my father’s mistress and a business partner. She is not my mother),” she pointed out.

She also said that her siblings have different nationalities: “Hindi ko nais na madamay sila sa mga isyung ito. Lumaki kami nang magkakahiwalay at may iba-ibang ina (I don't want them to be involved in this issue. We all grew up apart and we have different mothers),” she explained.

Mayor Guo also clarified that her parents are not married: “Hindi kasal ang aking mga magulang na sina Angelito Guo at Amelia Leal. Ako ay isang Pilipino at hawak ko ang aking Philippine passport (My parents Angelito Guo and Amelia Leal are not married. I am a filipino and I’m a Philippine passport holder).”

She also claimed that her father has businesses in the Philippines and abroad. According to Guo, her father frequently travels to oversee his businesses. She said her father is not involved in any Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) activities.

Guo submitted her letter of explanation on Wednesday, June 5 just as the Senate women and children panel held an executive session to tackle her alleged ties to POGOs.

The executive session was attended by officials from the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), Intelligence Services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), National Security Council (NSC), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), Bureau of Immigration (BI), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
