Emergency leak repair leaves households waterless in Taguig


An emergency leak repair by Manila Water left hundreds of households waterless in Barangay Bagumbayan, Taguig. 

Manila Water issued an advisory on May 10 that it was conducting “emergency leak repair at M.L. Quezon Avenue, Bagumbayan, Taguig City, causing temporary water interruption in M.L. Quezon - Bagumbayan, Mahogany and Severina.”

Amid the extreme heat being experienced in the country, affected residents got angry and frustrated. 

In an advisory, Barangay Bagumbayan that workers from Manila Water were conducting the water repair leak. 

“Patuloy po tayong magkakaroon ng water interruption until further notice ngunit ginagawa po ng Manila Water ang kanilang makakaya upang maibalik ang tubig sa ating barangay (We will continue to experience water interruption until further notice but Manial Water is doing what it can to restore water in our barangay),” the barangay posted on Facebook. 

While the repair was being done, trucks from the barangay and other areas rationed water to the affected households. Manila Water also sent a water truck to provide water. 

By 10 p.m. on May 10, Barangay Bagumbayan said the water supply was restored to the majority of the households.
