DMW: No Pinoy casualty in Jeddah building collapse

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has instructed its migrant office in Jeddah to monitor the progress of the search and rescue operations following a building collapse in Saudi Arabia on Friday, May 31.

As of Sunday, June 2, the DMW reported that there was no Filipino casualty in the building collapse in central Jeddah.

“Our Migrant Workers Office in Jeddah visited the incident site and several nearby hospitals to check for any Filipinos taken there for treatment. No Filipinos were reported to have been injured,” said DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac.

Local media reports at least eight people have been rescued from the collapsed structure.

Cacdac said the MWO-Jeddah assured him that it will continue monitoring the situation and staying in touch with the Jeddah police, medical, and emergency services agencies to ensure the safety of Filipinos.

“MWO-Jeddah will provide updates to the DMW Central Office as necessary,” said Cacdac.
