Police: 3 people die in Quezon due to 'Aghon'


At least three people died at the height of the onslaught of tropical storm “Aghon” in Quezon, the regional police force reported on Monday, May 27, amid the continuous relief and rescue operations in all the affected areas in the province. 

In San Antonio town, a male cadaver was recovered by local residents of Barangay Sampaga at around 10: 30 a.m. on Sunday. 

Local police said the victim was sleeping inside his nipa when a big acacia tree fell down and hit the hut as a result of heavy rains and strong winds.

At around 11 a.m. on the same day, a fisherman and his children discovered the body of a seven-month old baby near the shoreline of Sitio Resettlement in Barangay Ilayang Polo in Pagbilao town.

At 12 noon, a 14-year old boy was reported to have died after he was hit when a tree fell down in Barangay Iyam in Lucena City.

The three fatalities are yet to be confirmed by the Office of Civil Defense to be typhoon-related deaths. 

The province of Quezon is one of the areas severely hit by heavy rains and strong winds on Sunday, May 26. A number of areas were hit by flash floods.
