P10.8-M marijuana uprooted in Benguet


LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Marijuana worth P10.8 million was seized in the towns of Kibungan and Mankayan in Benguet on May 25.

 The Benguet Police Provincial Office said the Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit-Benguet, Regional Intelligence Division-Police Regional Office-Cordillera, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Administrative Region discovered 90 kilograms of dried marijuana stalks with fruiting tops worth P10.8 million in a communal forest in Sitio Ginawang, Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan.

These were concealed under a rock shade covered with plastic canvas.

In Mankayan, the Mankayan Municipal Police Station, Buguias MPS, 1st Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, PIU-PDEU Benguet PPO, RID-PRO Cordillera, and 1502nd Maneuver Company of the RMFB-15 conducted a marijuana eradication operation in Sitio Dowag, Barangay Guinaoang, which led to the discovery of 60 fully grown marijuana plants with an SDP of P12,000.

All discovered marijuana was documented and burned onsite and samples were taken to the Regional Forensic Unit-Cordillera for a qualitative test.
