MPower to energize JX Metals Philippines

Manila Electric Co.'s (Meralco) local retail electricity supplier, MPower, has renewed its partnership with JX Metals Philippines, Inc. for its manufacturing plant in Biñan, Laguna.

The Manuel V. Pangilinan-led power utility firm said that it is not only going to provide the power supply, but would also extend value-adding services by other Meralco subsidiaries like MServ, Meralco Power Academy, Radius, and Bayad.

The renewed deal between the two companies this year would stretch its longstanding collaboration which began in 2013.

Eddie John Adug, MPower Senior Assistant Vice President and Head of Retail Sales said that JX Metals is one of their customers benefitting from their competitively priced renewable energy (RE) portfolio.

“MPower continues to build up its clean energy supply portfolio by partnering with greenfield RE power plants to meet the growing demand for renewable energy supply in the contestable market,” he added.

Subsequently, JX Metals President Michiya Kohiki also hoped for a well-continued relationship with the electricity firm by contributing to the development of a sustainable economy and society through their partnership.

MPower Vice President and Head Redel Domingo also expressed confidence that they will push through their support to the company’s evolving energy requirements, stating, “especially with One Meralco’s wide suite of services that are meant to add value to its business operations.”
