A man allegedly wanted for murder was arrested by authorities when he boarded a passenger vessel off Zamboanga City on Wednesday morning, May 22.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said the Mr. Sakib Ganih has an outstanding warrant of arrest for murder (no bail) issued by Judge Shene Cañete of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Ninth Judicial Region Branch 4 in Parang, Sulu under Criminal Case Number 1928-4.

According to the Coast Guard Sea Marshal Force (CGSMF), they received an intelligence report that Ganih, a resident of Omar, Sulu, boarded a roll-on/roll-off (roro) vessel that departed from Jolo going to Zamboanga City.

The PCG coordinated with the Zamboanga City Police Office, Joint Task Force Zamboanga, and Zamboanga Port Police Division for the apprehension of the suspect.

He was collared around 7:25 a.m. onboard the roro vessel, and was transported to the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) Station 11 for appropriate measures.

The CGSMF said the apprehension of the suspect underscored the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation and commitment of the force to maintain safety and security within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
