Bitstop Network Services (BNS) has announced a cybersecurity webinar designed to share pivotal research insights and accelerate the learning curve for individuals aspiring to enter the cybersecurity domain. The event aims to equip novices with practical tools, enabling them to learn on the job and transform their careers.

The organizers aim to bridge the knowledge gap for individuals entering the cybersecurity field. "We wanted to share our pivotal research insights that we believe will accelerate the learning curve for individuals aspiring to enter the cybersecurity domain. Our objective is to equip novices with practical tools that enable them to learn on the job," said Wilson Chua, founder and managing director of BNS.

Chua added that in the context of cybersecurity, "zero to hero" represents the transformative journey from having minimal knowledge to becoming an expert with a comprehensive understanding of the field. This journey is facilitated by leveraging advanced AI tools, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), which accelerate skill acquisition and proficiency.

The 60-minute session will cover key challenges faced in Security Operations Centers (SOCs), including IP reputation analysis, investigation of malicious domains, and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) research. Participants will also learn about compiling incisive incident reports and formulating strategic remediation measures.

The webinar is open to all, with no prerequisites required. It is primarily tailored for SOC managers, who will benefit from LLM prompt engineering strategies, as well as educators and researchers interested in integrating LLMs into the cybersecurity ecosystem.

Participants can look forward to practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises, including live cases that they can emulate and apply in their own environments.

The research team at BNS, which will also include interns from Cagayan province's ISAP, will be in charge of the presentation. These individuals represent the archetypal beginners in cybersecurity who have quickly transitioned to become valuable contributors within SOCs through innovative techniques.

The webinar promises a dynamic and interactive experience, encouraging attendees to actively participate by posing questions and offering suggestions through the chat function.

After the webinar, attendees will have access to presentation slides and additional resources upon request, ensuring they have the necessary materials to reinforce their learning.

The webinar is supported by Blue Team communities, including the Philippine I.T. Security Forum and IT Philippines Forum, which provide a robust support network for continued engagement and development.

The BNS cybersecurity webinar represents a unique opportunity for aspiring professionals to gain essential knowledge and practical skills, setting them on a path to becoming experts in the field.

Here's the full transcript of my conversation with BNS founder and managing director Wilson Chua:

1. What inspired you to organize this cybersecurity webinar?

We wanted to share our pivotal research insights that we believe will accelerate the learning curve for individuals aspiring to enter the cybersecurity domain. Our objective is to equip novices with practical tool that enable them to learn on the job.

2. How do you define "zero to hero" in the context of cybersecurity?

In the realm of cybersecurity, "zero to hero" encapsulates the transformative journey from a novice, possessing minimal knowledge, to an expert who commands a comprehensive understanding of the field. This metamorphosis is facilitated by leveraging advanced AI tools, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), which serve as a catalyst for rapid skill acquisition and proficiency.

3. What specific topics or challenges will be covered during the 60-minute session?

The webinar is meticulously designed to address quintessential challenges encountered in Security Operations Centers (SOCs). Participants will gain insights into IP reputation analysis, investigation of malicious domains, and the intricacies of Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) research. Additionally, the session will elucidate the process of compiling incisive incident reports and formulating strategic remediation measures.

4. Are there any prerequisites for attendees?

There are no pre-requisites. And the session is primarily tailored for SOC managers who will find the LLM prompt engineering strategies particularly beneficial for their teams. It also caters to educators and researchers keen on exploring the integration of LLMs within the cybersecurity ecosystem.

5. Will there be practical demonstrations or hands-on exercises?

Yes, precisely! The webinar will present actual live cases that participants can emulate with ease, that they can "take home" and apply.

6. Who are the featured experts, and what are their backgrounds?

The presentation will be helmed by the research team at BNS, comprising interns from ISAP in Cagayan province. These individuals epitomize the archetypal beginners in cybersecurity who, through the application of innovative techniques, have swiftly transitioned to become valuable contributors within SOCs.

7. How can participants actively engage during the webinar?

We anticipate a dynamic and interactive webinar. Attendees are encouraged to actively participate by posing questions and offering suggestions through the chat function, thereby enriching the collective learning experience.

8. Will there be follow-up resources or materials after the webinar?

Presentation slides and additional resources will be accessible post-webinar upon request, ensuring that attendees have the necessary materials to reinforce their learning.

9. Is there a community or network associated with the webinar for ongoing support?

The webinar is supported by esteemed Blue Team communities including (but not limited to) the Philippine I.T. Security forum and IT Philippines forum, which provide a robust support network for continued engagement and development.

10. What's the one key takeaway you hope attendees will remember after the webinar?

I quote: Laurence Liew, the director for AI Innovation at AI Singapore: "AI is not going to replace you. You’re going to be replaced by someone who uses AI to outperform you." This adage serves as a clarion call for embracing AI as an indispensable tool for advancement in the cybersecurity landscape.
