Governor Daniel R. Fernando handed over cash assistance and emergency relief items on Wednesday, May 15, to 51 families who were victims of a fire incident last Tuesday, May 14, in Sitio Capin, Brgy. Ilang-Ilang, Guiguinto, Bulacan.
The distribution was held at Guiguinto Municipal Park in Rosaryville Subdivision Phase l, Brgy. Sta. Cruz wherein each family received P10,000 in financial assistance from Fernando.
The Provincial Government of Bulacan provided each family with 50 kilos of rice and emergency kits including a pillow, mosquito net, plastic mat, and blanket.
Owners of the fully damaged houses will receive additional assistance of P10,000 and P5,000 for the owners of partially damaged houses, subject to assessment of the damages.
A fire broke out in the area on Tuesday morning, wherein 51 houses were gutted by the fire. Firefighters immediately responded and put out the fire. No one was hurt in the said incident.
In his message, Fernando said that the Provincial Government will continue to assist the needy and committed P1 million worth of construction materials for the victims’ recovery and rebuilding of their homes.
He also informed the fire victims that the Bulacan government proposed a dredging project to solve the flooding problem in Guiguinto, particularly in the heavily silted river area.
Fernando said in the last week of May he would invite all the mayors and public servants in the province for a groundbreaking of a project that will help solve the problem of flooding in Bulacan.
The governor, together with Guiguinto Mayor Atty. Agatha Paula “Agay” Cruz, also personally checked the condition of the fire victims at the evacuation center.
