The Department of Health (DOH) and the Provincial Government of Bulacan, through the Provincial Health Office–Public Health (PHO-PH), held the Bulacan Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in the City of Malolos on Monday, April 29.

As vaccines are believed to be more effective and potent at a young age, the PHO-PH with the help of local government units and Barangay Health Workers, will be targeting HPV Vaccine distribution to public school children 9-14 years old to mitigate the 90 percent risk of cervical cancers, 95 percent risk of all male HPV-related cancers, and 90 percent risk of genital warts.

The initiative was launched in response to the alarming prevalence of HPV-related cancers, currently ranked as the second most common cancer after breast cancer.

In his message delivered by Chief of Staff Atty. Nikki Manuel S. Coronel, Fernando said that he will continue to pray for the success of the current vaccination effort which will pave the way for many more health interventions for the safety of Bulakenyos.

“Tayo po sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan ay laging nakahanda sa pagtugon sa mga hamon ng kalusugan mula noon hanggang sa ngayon. Patuloy po ang ating pagsisikap sa pagtataguyod ng maganda at masiglang pamayanan para sa bawat Bulakenyo na siyang nagpapatatag sa atin bilang isang lalawigan,” (We, in the provincial government of Bulacan, have always been ready to respond to health challenges. We will continue our efforts to promote a healthy environment for every Bulakenyo)," Fernando said.
