Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos personally received the keys to the new 7-seater vans from the DILG in a ceremony held at the City Hall.

"Ang nasabing mga sasakyan ay mapupunta sa Panlungsod na Kagawaran ng Kulturang Ugnayan, Turismo at Pagpapaunlad ng Isports, na makatutulong upang mas maging maayos ang transportasyon at pagtanggap ng lungsod sa mga bisita (The vehicles will go to the city's Department of Cultural Affairs, Tourism, and Sports Development, which will be a great help in improving the sectors' transportation)," the city government said.

Mandaluyong received its 7th SGLG award in December of last year, making it among the 22 LGUs in the country, and one of two LGUs in the National Capital Region (NCR) that has consistently won the said award.

Under the SGLG program, Abalos explained that the LGUs must pass the following governance areas: financial administration and sustainability; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture and arts and youth development.

In addition to getting this year’s SGLG marker, the LGU awardees are also eligible for the SGLG Incentive Fund to finance their local development initiatives in support of national goals and strategic thrusts.
