Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes on April 24 in both public and private schools due to extreme heat.

Aguilar advised schools to shift to online classes or asynchronous upon the recommendation of the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (DRRMO).

She said based on the DRRMO forecast, the city may reach the dangerous heat index of 42 degrees Celsius that may badly affect the health of students who are going to schools.

The mayor also advised residents to just stay at home if they don’t have important things to attend to in order to prevent heat-related health problems like heat stroke.
