When home no longer feels like home, where do you go to think that you belong?

In “Dayo,” a film by Sid T. Pascua, and screenplay by Quinn Carrillo, we follow the story of a woman who wants a new environment and a simple life, but trouble somehow finds her wherever she goes.

Rica Gonzales portrays Elsa, a dancer in a Manila club where corrupt and cruel men abound. Tired of this lifestyle and disrespected by her family for having such a job, she finds the courage to leave everything behind.

Her best friend Aya (Audrey Avila) has convinced her to stay with her in La Union, where no one knows about her past and will not judge her. Elsa finds work as a waitress in a resort, and for the first time, she actually feels free. Falling in love is the last thing on her mind, but even that becomes possible in her new life.

Calvin Reyes plays Eddy, a tricycle driver. He’s the first man to make Elsa feel loved. While she was used to sex before, this time, she sees it as lovemaking because Eddy doesn’t make her feel dirty but adored. With Eddy, she no longer feels like an outsider in La Union. She’s found her new home.

But Eddy is not completely the decent man Elsa thinks he is. He is involved in something illegal, and one wrong move threatens his life. To make things worse, the man Eddy is indebted to is someone from Elsa’s past.

Is there still a place where Elsa can be with Eddy and be at peace?

Also starring Marco Gomez and Nathan Rojas, “Dayo” is available for streaming on Vivamax on April 19, 2024.
