READ: Content creator sells 99 preloved items, reports over P670,000 in sales

“Declutter your space. Those unused items accumulate value over time.”

Winnie Wong, who has over 128,000 followers on Instagram, has been encouraging friends and followers to organize and keep only the items that one really wears and uses.

In one of her recent reels, she revealed that she sold 99 of her secondhand items in 2023, getting back P672,000.

“While profit wasn’t the aim, the goal remains to maximize returns and gradually reduce the number of items sold each year. Declutter your space. Those unused items accumulate value over time,” she noted in the comments section.

“I didn’t profit, because I did spend money on these items, but the good thing is that I got back money from the items that I sold and I can use it for future shopping uses or other things,” she added.

Winne has been doing this for five years. “The goal is to sell fewer and fewer items and be more conscious and better at choosing items that you buy.”

She also shared some tips on selling preloved items. “One thing that I do is I make sure that I’m very honest with the condition of the items.  All I’m trying to do is try to sell it at the best price possible. And, usually, it’s half the cost of the item because I did use it.”

A lot of her followers asked where she sells, and it’s via Carousell. “For me, I’ve already created a structure of how to avoid fake buyers and scammers. So It’s the best for me! But I’m hoping to create something even better with my experience in second hand selling and inventory management,” she answered one of her followers via the comments section.

On why she continues to share her experiences online, especially this specific reel, “I do want people to see the value in the item and not just buy it because it’s cheap. And, hopefully, I’ll encourage you to kind of sell your things as well.”
