House Deputy Speaker Quezon 2nd district Rep. David "Jay-jay" Suarez says government officials, particularly those in the Marcos Cabinet, should exercise prudence and propriety when it comes to attending prayer rallies that somehow turn into demonstrations against the administration.

Suarez gave this message following Vice President Sara Duterte's attendance to the pro-Apollo Quiboloy prayer rally in Manila last March 12 that had a decidedly anti-administration theme.

"We need to be a little bit more prudent and proper in deciding what events to attend pagdating sa ganung usapin (when it comes to those matters)," Suarez said In a press conference at the House of Representatives Monday, March 18.

"I think siguro sa mga susunod na pagkakataon, malaman din natin yung mga dinadaluhan natin (I think next time, we should be aware of the events that we are attending)," he said.

He noted that Duterte's participation at the March 12 event "sent the wrong signal".

"Kita niyo naman yung tenor ng prayer rally na yun, I think very strong yung anti-administration sentiment (You saw the tenor of the prayer rally, I think the anti-administration sentiment was very strong)," Suarez said.

"Of course being part of the Cabinet of President Bongbong Marcos, so it sends the wrong signal. Especially for me di ba. Kasi ipinaglaban natin, kaya sila parehas nanalo dahil sa unity at pagkakaisa," he said, referring to 2022 "UniTeam" of Vice President Duterte and President Marcos.

(Especially for me. We fought for it, the reason why they both won was because of unity.)

"Eh di dapat yun din ang nakikita natin pagdating sa mga leader natin sa taas, na yung pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan (That's what we should also see when it comes to our leaders at the top, unity and cooperation)," he said.
