SJMC, Metro hospitals band together for San Juaneños' health

The San Juan City local government announced on Saturday, March 16, that the San Juan Medical Center (SJMC) has partnered with other hospitals and healthcare centers in the metro to further expand the medical services available for the city residents.

"The City Government of San Juan, through San Juan Medical Center (SJMC), ( is) in agreement with Cardinal Santos Medical Center, University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC), Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, De Los Santos Medical Center, Makati Medical Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center, The Medical City, and Health Cube Medical Clinics to continue giving quality and adequate medical services to San Juaneños," San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said.

"For patients in need of medical services not available in SJMC, they may get a referral letter or prescription from their doctors and endorsement letter from Public Assistance Center (PAC). Bring referral letter and endorsement letter to the designated partner institution to perform your required service," he added.

The mayor reminded patients to first contact SJMC for their medical needs such as medical procedures, laboratories, confinement etc.

"To know the available medical procedures and services, you may call SJMC Operations Center Hotline Numbers: 8-725-4064 or 8-724-3266 Loc. 127 and 0945-284-0404," he said.

In October of last year, SJMC has been recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) as a Level 2 accredited hospital, highlighting the improvements the city government has made in boosting its healthcare capabilities.

Zamora said the hospital now features new and improved equipment and services San Juaneños and residents from nearby communities may avail of. They include mammogram, hemodialysis machines, CT scan, ultrasound machines, milk bank equipment, fetal dopplers, fetal monitors, physical rehab equipment, otoacoustic machine, biosafety cabinet, clinical centrifuge, hema analyzer, chemistry analyzer, anesthesia machine, ABG machine, mechanical ventilators, positive airway machines, emergency carts, X-RAY archiving system, and video laryngoscope.

SJMC also has an improved Intensive Care Unit (ICU), respiratory therapy services, tertiary clinical laboratory, and Level 2 imaging facility and mobile X-RAY.

Zero Balance Billing

The mayor also showcased the other improvements made at the facility as the city government continues to deliver on its promise in bringing quality healthcare services to its residents and the public.

"Mula sa pagkakaroon ng mga modernong kagamitan at pasilidad hanggang sa paghahatid ng mas mataas na antas na serbisyong medikal, mula sa pagpapalawak ng kaalaman ng ating healthworkers hanggang sa tuloy-tuloy na paglinang ng kanilang kakayahan, mula sa dating may bayad ultimo ang bulak at alcohol hanggang sa pagiging Zero Balance Billing na natin ngayon (From acquiring modern equipment and facilities that bring high level of medical services to the public, to further expanding the knowledge and skills of our health workers, the hospital continues to put its best foot forward in serving our constituents. Gone are the days when you have to pay even for cotton and alcohol. Now, we have introduced the Zero Balance Billing to our patients)," Zamora said.

San Juan City had earlier expanded its healthcare services through its free medical assistance program to all its indigent residents.

The medical assistance program covers the following services:

1. Laboratory and diagnostic procedures - Ancillary, Cardiology, Neurology, Bone Density scan, CT scan, General Ultrasound, Mammogram, X-ray, etc.

2. Vaccination - Dengue, Chickenpox, Hepa, Measles, Anti-rabies, etc.
