Valenzuela gov’t to provide free medical services to residents


The local government of Valenzuela City on Thursday, March 14, announced that it will provide free optical, dental, family planning, Sagip Tanaw Project, Pneumonia vaccine, and PhilHealth services to its residents on Saturday, March 16.

The  activity will be held at the Sentro ng Sama-samang Serbisyo (3S) Center in Barangay Polo from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The medical mission will offer laboratory examinations including fasting blood sugar (FBS), cholesterol, urinalysis, triglycerides, complete blood count (CBC), uric acid, and platelet count tests.

A free eye check-up, free eye glasses for residents 36 years-old and above, and cataract screening for residents 50 years-old and above, dental check up including tooth extraction services, fluoride gel application for six to 12-year-old kids, and fluoride varnish application for five years old and below.

Couples may also undergo counseling for family planning and receive contraceptives.

Additionally, the medical mission will offer pneumonia vaccines for 100 residents aged 60 years old  and above, who must bring their Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) ID.

Residents who are symptomatic or those who have cough, colds, and fever, and who received a pneumonia vaccine in the past or within the last five years, including those who received a vaccine within the last two weeks or are currently taking antibiotics or steroids, will not be able to receive the vaccine.

Residents with medical conditions are advised to bring a medical clearance from their doctor.  

Moreover, the city government also offers PhilHealth services such as PhilHealth membership, releasing of ID and Member Data Record (MDR), and the Konsulta Registration. Residents must bring the following requirements: PhilHealth Member Registration Form (PMRF), birth certificate, marriage contract, and government-issued ID, both original and photocopy. 

The LGU reminded the residents to wear face masks when going to the venue.

Those who will take laboratory tests such as FBS, cholesterol, and triglycerides do not need to fast. However, they are urged to bring a referral slip from their doctors.
