Iloilo City police feted for promoting women’s rights


ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City Police Office was recently awarded for promoting women’s rights and promoting gender rights in Western Visayas during the observance of National Women’s Month here.

The Police Regional Office-6 awarded the Iloilo City Police Office as the Best Performing Unit in Family Juvenile Gender and Development in the city category.  

Police Col. Joeresty Coronica received the Plaque of Recognition and Medalya ng Kasanayan from Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, and Department of Tourism (DOT)-6 Regional Director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez.

Police Lt. Col. Lindley Barrientos, ICPO Deputy City Director for Administration, was awarded the Medalya ng Kasanayan as one of the five senior female officers holding key positions in Western Visayas.

Both police officers were pivotal in promoting equality and inclusivity as well as empowering women’s rights that contribute to the overall gender-sensitive environment in the police force.

"Women have a place in our hearts, in our deeds, and whatever accomplishments we achieve; women are a part of it," said Coronica in a statement.
