QC gov't warns residents vs fake solicitation letter, signature campaign for beauty pageant


The Quezon City government on Friday, Feb. 2, warned the public regarding fake solicitation letters being given by a person to residents for donations for a gay beauty pageant.

According to the local government, the letter which was allegedly approved by the Office of the Mayor on Jan. 30 certified one Mr./Ms. Jasper Cariño to do a signature campaign and seek donations for his chosen charity and for a pageant he will be participating. The letter has the picture and signature of Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

However, it said that the signature campaign was not given permission and the signature of the mayor in the letter was fake.

"Maging mapanuri po tayo QCitizens para hindi mabiktima ng mga ganitong uri ng panloloko," it added (QCitizens, let's be vigilant so we don't fall victim to these types of scam)," it added.
