Around 800 people flocked to the newly constructed walkway in Binondo, Manila, which is part of the Pasig River Urban Development, on Friday night, Jan. 26, according to the Manila Police District (MPD).

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan along with President Marcos and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos officially launched the project dubbed “Pasig Bigyan Buhay Muli" last Jan. 17.

The revamped promenade is located behind the Manila Central Post Office, beside the historic river.

The national government said the project aims to transform the river into an economic hub.

The 500-meter walkway is adorned with water fountains and colorful lighting accents.

Vendors also trooped to the part to sell street foods and drinks.

Meanwhile, several personnel from Manila police were deployed to monitor the area.

Police said that more and more people flock to the new park, especially at night.
