The Akari Chargers will have decorated setter Tina Salak as their assistant coach.

The team made the announcement on social media on Wednesday, Jan. 24, where she will join interim head coach Raffy Mosuela into the fold.

“Welcome to the Akari Chargers, Assistant Coach Tina Salak!” the post read.

“We have seen how she has elevated her teams in the past, which is why we are thrilled to see how she will contribute to the growth of our players this season. We are delighted to have you on our squad, Coach Tina!”

Salak, a decorated setter during her playing years, was no stranger to coaching. She was one of the assistant coaches for the Cocolife Asset Managers in the now-defunct Philippine Superliga in 2017, as well as in 2019 for the same squad that was renamed United VC.

In 2022, she was also named the head coach of the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, her alma mater.

As a player, she was part of the PH team that won the bronze medal in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games held in Manila.
