Bulacan starts working on Singkaban Festival 2023 opening


Well-designed and glowing bamboo arches, widely known as “Singkaban”, are soon to rise at the doorways all over the province particularly in the historic capital City Of Malolos, as the provincial government of Bulacan began its preparation for the grand opening of this year’s “Singkaban Festival 2023” known as “Linggo ng Bulacan”.

Marking the start of the Singkaban Fiesta in the province, Governor Daniel Fernando through Bulacan Provincial Administrator Antonia Constantino, is calling the attention of Bulacan mayors and vice mayors as well as all heads of public and district hospitals in the province of Bulacan to join the official opening of the Singkaban Festival 2023, on Friday, Sept. 8.

In a memorandum sent by Constantino to the local chief executives in every city and municipality, the directors of Bulacan Public Hospital are requested to join along with the 10 percent of their employees at the formal opening of the Singkaban Festival 2023 that will be held in front of Provincial Capitol building in the City of Malolos.  

Fernando and Vice Governor Alex Castro are also inviting everyone to witness and join them in a week-long celebration that includes cultural presentations, art exhibits, and other fun activities that Bulakenyos and the visitors will definitely enjoy.

It was observed that during the Singkaban Fiesta celebration, most visitors are excited to taste the local delicacies of Bulacan that are displayed or sold in different Bamboo stores inside the Capitol compound. 

The main event of the festival is the street dance and float parade depicting the province’s glorious past and colorful floats where representatives from different Bulacan cities and municipalities. 

The annual event will showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage and artistry of the province, wherein various towns' entries feature all things Bulakenyo.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the Singkaban Festival, Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) head Dr. Eliseo dela Cruz said the first Provincial Tourism Council (PTC) meeting held on Tuesday, Sept. 5, was headed by Vice Chairwoman Ma. Victoria R. Tengco-Burgos. 

PHACTO chief Dela Cruz thanked Vice-Chairwoman Burgos for her support to all members of the PTC to strengthen the tourism programs province-wide.
