Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano led the conduct of inspections at the city’s public markets to ensure that vendors are complying with the government-imposed rice price ceiling.

The mayor made the surprise inspections at the Pasay City Public Market located at Antonio Arnaiz Avenue corner Taft and at the Cartimar Market.

Rubiano said the city government is supporting the Executive Order No. 39 of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. which sets the price of regular-milled rice at P41.00 per kilo and the well-milled rice at P45.00 per kilo.

She said the President’s EO is in response to the increasing prices of rice caused by the illegal activities of some rice traders.

The mayor said the city government will be strict in the monitoring the market vendors and rice wholesalers to ensure that they are following the EO issued by the President.

Rubiano said the city government will also conduct round-the -clock monitoring of basic commodities in all the markets in the city.
