Bishop Jose Elmer Mangalinao enjoins the faithful to be mindful and conscious of what is happening around him as responsible stewards of the environment.

“The Season of Creation invites all of us to see, judge, and act on everything that is happening around us as responsible stewards of the environment. We must always be conscious and aware of our responsibility in helping protect and preserve the environment,” said Bishop Mangalinao over Radio Veritas.

The Church leader said that Mother Nature also have rights that the human race need to observe.

“ We should never abuse our freedom as to destroy our environment. Calamities, typhoons, wild fires, drought, massive erosions and floods are strong signals of the environment against the abuses inflicted by man, abuses against the rights of Mother Nature,” the prelate said.

Bishop Mangalinao called on the faithful to observe the three Rs to help preserve the environment- reduce, reuse and recycle to address the growing garbage problem.

Act now. Let us all act now not only for ourselves but also for the future generation. Let our micro effort result to a macro impact,” the bishop said.

The Season of Creation reminds everyone of his responsibility as responsible stewards of our God-given environment. The theme for this year’s observance is “Let justice and peace flow “ and features the symbol of a mighty river.
