A community of pearl enthusiasts grew during the pandemic, thanks to South Sea pearl jewelry brand Arao (sun in Filipino) and its founder Mirabel Rosar. “We wanted to connect with our clients and other like-minded individuals in a unique and authentic way. Through our regular Wo/Men of Pearls stories, we were able to build a community that inspires, enlightens, and empowers.”
This “Wo/Men of Pearls” community continued to grow, expanding its reach globally, even embracing gender-neutral designs, and collaborating with other artists such as Jo Ann Bitagcol, Anna Flores of Chaless Spa in Hong Kong, and June Lau of Novel Fineries in Peninsula Hong Kong.
These many milestones call for a celebration with kindred spirits as Arao hosted an intimate afternoon tea—a reunion that involved many of the brand’s growing community. “This really is more of just a celebration of life. A celebration of Life in Pearls, which includes small, everyday luxuries like having afternoon tea with friends and meeting like-minded people,” says Mirabel.
Present at the event were Novel Fineries Founder and Creative Director June Lau, Energy Healer and Stone & Star Founder Joyce Tsang, ImagIndustries Director and Founding Partner Karrie Bitanga, Dalisay Collection Founder Pristine Lampard, Women of Hong Kong Founder Sarah Vee, Hearts On Fire Senior Territory Manager Tanya Somera, Interior Designers Cecil Ravelas and Carinna Cheung, Architectural Designer JJ Acuna, Shamanic Healer and Journalist Johannes Pong, Feng Shui Designer Thierry Chow, Digital Strategist for HSBC Noreen O’Brien. Several special guests from Manila like Liza Ilarde, Elbert Cuenca, Marc Medina, Luis Espiritu, and Bianca Salonga also flew to Hong Kong for the occasion.
