South Korean singer-actor-TV host Lee Seung-gi, star of My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and Vagabond, returned to Manila to treat some 300 children to an afternoon of food, gift-giving, and fun.
“I am very happy to see all of you,” said Lee, who addressed the crowd who welcomed him during a charity event at Robinson's Magnolia in Quezon City last weekend.
Lee added: “I’m so thankful you are all here to welcome me back. It’s a very good feeling to see all of you. I love all of you. That’s why I’m here again.”
Last May, a concert, The Dreamer’s Dream Chapter 2, was staged at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
“Since I have all the love from the Philippines, I’m going to give you back this time, and hopefully, we’ll do this more often,” he added.
Lee is known for his songs like Forest, Return, Circle, The Ordinary Man, Because You’re My Woman, Like a Flower, Delete, Will You Marry Me? and Losing My Mind.
During a brief media conference, Lee hinted at returning to the big screen. He is also set to release his latest single, "I Got To Know It That Way."
Politician and business tycoon Luis “Chavit” Singson also welcomed Lee at his newly-opened Korean restaurant BB.Q Chicken. Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto also helped Lee in cheering the kids.
Singson said: “I am very grateful to Robinson’s Mall because this is a way they help mothers raise and love their kids. They all know we love Koreans and BB.Q Chicken. It is important that Lee Seung-gi is in the Philippines again to return that love.”
“On behalf of Mayor Joy Belmonte, we would like to welcome Lee Seung-gi on this very memorable day. We would like to thank Lee Seung-gi and (former) Gov. Chavit Singson for the blessings they gave to the children.
“We are really grateful. Kasama niyo po kami dito sa mga ginagawang projects para po makatulong tayo sa mga pamilya sa Quezon City.
“I just want to remind everybody that everything that you do, do it for God and do it for others. Please do not do it for yourself. This is a very good example that Lee Seung-gi gave to all of us. To always look out for the welfare of others," Sotto also said.
“Always remember, we rise by lifting others up. Can I get an ‘Amen?’ The crowd shouted and responded: “Amen."
