OPAMINE monitoring run-up to barangay, SK polls in Davao region


DAVAO CITY – Office of the Presidential Assistant for Mindanao-Eastern (OPAMINE) Leo Tereso A. Magno urged local governments in the Davao region to maintain communication with his office especially for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 30.

Magno issued the call before governors, mayors, the police and military, and government agencies during the third quarter council meeting of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC)-11 headed by Davao City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte in a hotel here on Tuesday, September 18.

The meeting primarily centered on security measures for the elections. 

Magno said regular communication is compulsory to enable the government to immediately address pressing concerns in line with the elections.

“Any concerns or issues requiring the immediate attention of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr. can be promptly communicated,” Magno said.

As a Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security, Magno assured local government leaders that Malacañang would maintain a vigilant watch over any developments in the Davao region that could impact a fair, organized, and tranquil electoral process.

Commission on Elections-Davao region spokesperson Gay Enumerables said they are currently in preparations which include printing the certified voters’ lists ready to be displayed on the bulletin boards within their offices.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Police Capt. Hazel Tuazon said elaborate security preparations have been carefully strategized and implemented for the elections.
