DPWH paves 2 farm-to-market roads in Aklan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is paving two farm-to-market roads (FMR) that are expected to provide faster and safer routes for farmers in Malinao, Aklan.

DPWH Region 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel said the concreting projects along a 160-lineal-meter road and a 924-lineal-meter road will provide shorter and better access for Barangay Bulabod and Barangay Dangcalan.

When completed, the FMR projects will offer safer routes for improved agricultural goods distribution to communities nearby, saving transportation costs and raising the income of local farmers.

“By constructing these FMRs, we are empowering our local farmers and providing them with the tools they need to thrive in the competitive agricultural landscape,” said Oropel.

With a total allocation of ₱11.8 million and ₱11.9 million, the road project in Barangay Bulabod and Barangay Dangcalan was implemented by the DPWH Aklan District Engineering Office and is expected to be finished by the end of 2023. (Trixie Rosel)
