Fil-Canadian Christian David eager to help Blackwater

Picked second overall by the Bossing, David, who was born to Filipino parents but migrated to Canada where he grew up, said that he could be an asset to his new team especially with his size at 6-foot-6 and has a penchant for outside shooting.

“I think I can spread the floor more for the guards to drive. I think I’ll be a good asset to this team,” said David.

“I had no expectations coming into the draft so I’m blessed to be the No. 2 pick,” he added.

Not much is seen from David since he was not able to join the Draft Combine and never really got to play in the Korean Basketball League and was released by the Samsung Thunder after three months due to a nagging knee injury.

Despite that, it seemed like Bossing head coach Jeff Cariaso had seen something in the Butler University product to pick him early in the draft.

Whatever it is though, David vowed to provide anything Blackwater needs to make sure that they improve their 9-25 win-loss record in the three conferences last season.

“Of course that’s the goal (to turn things around for Blackwater). I’m gonna try my best to help the team with whatever they need from me. I'm gonna try to help them and hopefully we can win a lot of games,” said David.

David, along with fellow Bossing picks in James Kwekuteye and Clifford Hopia, is expected to provide contributions to a team that has the likes of Troy Rosario, Rashawn McCarthy, Baser Amer and Jvee Casio.
