Police form SITG on Abra lawyer’s slay

BANGUED, Abra – Police have formed a Special Investigation Task Group on the murder of lawyer Maria Saniata Liwliwa Gonzales-Alzate.

Probers are focusing on the identification of the two gunmen seen fleeing after the incident in a surveillance camera, said Police Col. Froilan Lopez, Abra police chief and SITG-Alzate head.

Lopez appealed to residents to discreetly inform the police about the identities of the gunmen.

“In our ongoing in-depth probe of the incident, we are considering job-related angle as possible motive on the murder of Alzate,” said Lopez.

The victim was in her car on Thursday, September 14, infront of their house when she was gunned down.

Alzate is the wife of Raphiel F. Alzate, former acting Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 24 in Ilocos Sur and the RTC Branch 58 in Abra.
