The SM Iloilo Electric Bus made its maiden trip on Friday, September 15.

The 10 units of SM E-buses is a joint project with MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power), this city’s sole electricity distributor.

MORE Power President and Chief Executive Officer Roel Castro envisioned the introduction of electric buses as a means to support sustainability goals and address the city's need for more eco-friendly transport alternatives.

“With the SM electric bus, transportation in Iloilo City is going to the next level with reduced pollution and congestion,” said SM City Iloilo Mall Manager Gilbert Domingo.

Niel Parcon, MORE Power vice president for corporate energy sourcing, considered the e-buses as game changer that can lessen air and noise pollution.

The SM bus service is a membership shuttle service.

It offers routes from Iloilo City Hall to Ceres Northbound Terminal and has various stops at key SM locations in this city.  The shuttle service is only available from Monday to Saturday.
