San Agustin Church celebrates Fiesta of Our Lady of Consolation 2023


The San Agustin Church celebrates the solemn novena in honor of Our Lady of Consolation and Cincture enshrined at the Archdiocesan in San Agustin Church, Intramuros, Manila, on Thursday, Aug. 31, and will continue until Sept. 9.

With the theme, “Ina ng Consolacion: Kaagapay at Kagalakan ng Sambayanang Naglalakbay,” the devotees of the Our Lady of Consolation and Cincture led by Shrine Ministry Officers of Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Consolacion y Correa of the Church of Saint Augustine in Manila gathered together to observe the fiesta celebration.

Rev. Fr. James Uy, OSA, presided over the mass at the Local Prior, Convento de San Agustin, on Aug. 31, and was celebrated by organizations and communities in Intramuros, Manila.

Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Joel Rescober, CM, will preside over a prayer at 5 p.m. and a mass in Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Manila on Sept. 1.

The awaited celebration of Fiesta de la Consolación on Sept. 4 will start at 4 p.m. with Children’s Flower Offering, followed by the installation of new cofradia members at 5:30 p.m. and a mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Erwin Hari, OSA.

On the last day, Sep. 9, at the San Agustin Church-Immaculate Conception Parish in Manila, a Rosario Cantada is set at 1 p.m., and a grand procession will be at 4 p.m.

Other novena masses will also be offered in parishes from Sept. 1 to 9.

The title of Our Mother of Consolation has been the principal devotion to Mary by the Order of Saint Augustine since the 17th Century. 

Our Lady of Consolation is venerated all over the country. Masses were celebrated in her honor, and her feast day is observed every Sept. 4.
